Pole dancing and burlesque style workouts are making a comeback for women who are open to tastefully exploring their feminine side while having fun working out. In addition, belly dancing is extremely popular for women and men alike, and every day it seems like new classes and DVD workouts are popping up all over the world.

EDTA Chelation Therapy and How it Works

There are a number of medical specialists who feel that particles of metals, such as lead, mercury and iron in our environment, our dental fillings and our diet can build up inside our bodies and cause adverse effects. If the body does not remove these metals, then the result can be serious health problems. Chelation therapy is a method or treatment for cleansing the body of these toxic metals. What is Chelation Therapy?

Chelation therapy is the administration of chelating agents to remove metals from the body. This metal detoxification can be done intravenously, intramuscularly or orally. There have been some reported side effects associated with chelation therapy. One of the most common complaints following this type of detoxification program is headaches resulting from a low blood sugar level. To prevent this from occurring, try eating before or during the therapy. A common recommendation for the prevention of "EDTA headaches" is to consume a semi-ripe banana during the first hour of infusion. Nausea or stomach upset can also occur due to a deficiency of vitamin B6. This is experienced by less than 1 percent of the patients receiving this treatment and is best offset by a B6 supplement. 

Not surprisingly, the mainstream medical community still questions the effectiveness of chelation therapy, while people who believe in alternative treatments swear by it. As with anything that has the potential to impact your health, it is advisable to do your own research and get the opinions of a few doctors before you proceed.
